Reflection

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face to shine upon you
And be gracious to you; The Lord lift his countenance upon you and give you peace.” Nm 6: 22-27

What better blessing can we ask as we begin the New Year 2022? In the Old Testament we read today of a blessing God gives his people: “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift his countenance upon you and give you peace”. This reminds us that God’s presence and blessings will be and are with us, for we, too, are God’s people. Even more than that, his face will shine upon us and give us peace. Many in our world are suffering and in great despair. There is a great need for God’s blessings and presence. We know of refugee camps in many parts of the world, of victims of natural disasters, of asylum seekers living in less than humane circumstances. Let’s support wholeheartedly all the efforts around the world to alleviate some of the pain and suffering of the body of Christ, so that everyone can praise God for his abundant blessings. There is no time to waste. Our time is NOW!

Prayer

Loving God help me this New Year, to return in love and service the blessings I have received from you.

Personal Challenge

Each evening before going to bed I will take a few minutes to give thanks for the blessings
I have received and ask God to bless those in greatest need of God’s gifts.
