Reflection

Why do you seek the living one among the dead? Lk 24:5b and they remembered his words, returned, and announced all these things to the eleven and to all the others. Lk 24:8-9

REMEMBER. This night is one of vigil for the Lord. We wait, with our lamps burning. The church is dark. The only light is from our candles. As we wait, we listen to readings from the Old Testament and together recall all God has done for us. God created us in his own image, male and female. Many times he rescued us when we fell; always leading us back to our loving God, our Creator. When we reach the New Testament readings the church becomes bright with the light of Jesus, the Christ. Again we listen. Why seek the living among the dead? Jesus is alive! Jesus is risen! St. Paul reminds us, “If then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.” Rom 6:11 The women who were the first visitors to the tomb remembered Jesus’ words. They returned and shared this good news with the apostles and all the others. On this holiest of days we, also, remember, believe, and celebrate!

JESUS IS RISEN AS HE SAID!

Prayer

Jesus, you show us how to live as human beings. You are a living presence to help us live lives that give glory to God. May my life be a sign of your great love. Amen.

Personal Challenge

In imitation of Mary, ponder these events. Treasure them in your heart. Believe!
