Reflection

“But, there’s also this, it’s not too late-God’s personal Message!-“Come back to me and really mean it! Come fasting and weeping, sorry for your sins!” Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, always ready to cancel catastrophe. Who knows? Maybe he’ll do it now, maybe he’ll turn around and show pity. Maybe, when all’s said and done, there’ll be blessings full and robust for your God!” Joel: 12-14 (The Message)

Prayer

Can you remember any time when you were in a situation where you moved away from God? How many times have you experienced sorrow for an offense but didn’t have the courage to make amends or ask God to take away the anger in your heart? Did you really mean it? How difficult was it to pray? Where was God? What is the risk of coming back to God?

I know God is merciful and that there is nothing that I would do that God would not offer me forgiveness and enfold me in loving arms. So why am I holding out? God puts up with a lot but always is awaiting my return with open arms—just do it.

Personal Challenge

Have courage and never be afraid to ask for help. God says “Come back to me with all your heart.” God will never leave me so why not accept the blessings God sends me today?
