| Spirituality
Spirituality is a way of being that flows from one's core religious experience which reveals itself in deep desire leading to action. The words, actions and decisions we choose in order to shape this desire are the basis of our spirituality. Everyone has a spirituality. It can lead to greater integration or disintegration of ourselves, others and the cosmos as a whole.
The spirituality of the Congregation of St. Joseph is one of growing love, and is an example of a spirituality of integration. Flowing from a deep desire for communion with God and every kind of neighbor, from whom we do not separate ourselves, we experience the prayer of Christ happening within us "That all may be one". | This missions us to unity. We experience the
Trinitarian God of Inclusive Love, Self-emptying Love and Unioning
Love, which fills us with zeal for communion with God and every kind of
neighbor. This calls us to faithful (discerning) listening for the next
step the Spirit of Love is inviting us to take. This step leads us as
we become more hospitable, welcoming, and loving - especially to those
humans and other creatures who have been left out of our circle of love.
This spirituality leads us to share with one another what God is doing in our hearts so that we can come to know how the Spirit of Love is inviting us as a congregation to focus our mission in the present time. As we gathered to discern that step, we committed ourselves to the four Generous Promises as expressions of our spirituality and our call. |
