Sisters Celebrate Jubilee During Weekend Retreat
|Fifty seven Sisters of St. Joseph gathered in Cleveland October 19-21, 2012, in celebration of their recent jubilee - the anniversary of their entrance into the Congregation of St. Joseph and religious life. The sisters, who came from all over the United States, celebrated their 25th, 50th, and 60th jubilees in community with one another during a weekend of prayer, reflection, and celebration. The bi-annual jubilarian retreat included those sisters celebrating jubilee in 2011 and 2012.
The weekend, whose theme was "May the prayer of our hearts always be, make us your servants," kicked off on Friday evening with supper and time for sharing and socializing. On Saturday, the group met for prayer, reflection and contemplative, and engaged in conversation in both large and small groups. That afternoon the Sisters attended a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr. John Libens, SJ, and which included a homily by Sister Jeannie Masterson, CSJ, a member of the Congregation Leadership Team and a 50-year Jubilarian in 2011.
On Sunday, the sisters attended the closing session which included a blessing followed by lunch. We congratulate all those who celebrated jubilee last year and this year and who were able to join us at this retreat. For those who were not able, your spirit was keenly felt and you remain faithfully in our prayers.
